CommBank bank feed for Xero: import CBA statements as a live feed
CommBank's direct Xero feed covers business transaction and savings accounts, business loan accounts, term deposits and business credit cards, set up from Xero or from NetBank. The eligible list is a business list: a personal CBA account or personal credit card used for business spending is not on it, and support for personal card feeds remains an open request rather than a feature. StatementClear posts those CBA statements into Xero as live bank feed lines, deduped and balance-checked.
CommBank's direct feed is straightforward to set up, from inside Xero or from NetBank under Manage my accounts, and for an eligible business account it works well. The gap is a specific and very common one. CommBank's eligible products are business products: business transaction and savings accounts, business loan accounts, term deposits and business credit cards. A sole trader or a young company running on a personal CBA account, or putting business spending on a personal Mastercard or Visa, has no feed available, and adding personal card support has been an open request in Xero's own product forum rather than something shipped. That is a permanent manual import unless something else fills it. StatementClear turns the CommBank statement into a live Xero feed instead.

Where the native CommBank feed falls short
CommBank has a direct Xero feed set up either from Xero or from NetBank under Manage my accounts. It covers business transaction and savings accounts, business loan accounts, term deposits and business credit cards. NetBank feeds reach Xero and MYOB only; the wider provider list, including Reckon, BGL and Class Super, is a CommBiz feature. Personal cards and personal accounts used for business sit outside the eligible list.
CommBank's CSV export is deliberately plain, and that is where it catches people. The download carries no header row at all, just date, amount, description and balance, so a manual import into Xero means telling it what each unlabelled column is every single time. The amount is a single signed figure, negative for money out, which is the easier convention, but the date arrives day-first and will silently reverse if anything treats it as American. Statements downloaded from NetBank and from CommBiz do not carry identical columns either. StatementClear maps whichever export you use once per account and remembers it, verifies each upload against the statement's own closing balance, and dedupes against what is already in the account before posting.
The manual way, every month
- Log in and export a statement (and hope the format didn't change)
- Reformat columns, dates and signs until Xero's importer accepts it
- Upload the CSV into the right account and pray nothing doubled up
- Eyeball the balance, fix what broke, repeat next month
And after all that, it still isn't a feed - it's a one-off import you'll redo next month.
The StatementClear way: a real feed
Upload the statement and it posts into Xero as a live bank feed through Xero's Bank Feeds API - deduped, balance-checked and ready to reconcile. Not another file to import. Converters hand you a CSV; this arrives in Xero the way a bank feed does.
- Step 1
Connect Xero
Link your org and pick the account that is missing transactions.
- Step 2
Upload your CommBank statement
PDF, CSV or Excel - whatever you can export. Map the columns once and we remember the mapping.
- Step 3
We check it first
Duplicates are skipped, the running balance is verified, and sign errors are caught before anything posts.
- Step 4
It lands as a feed
Clean lines arrive in Xero through the Bank Feeds API, ready to reconcile.
